Ball-trumpet tree: Flower is quite sparse
The trumpet tree (Catalpa bignonioides) is created by refining it onto a conventional trumpet tree and attracts attention with its naturally spherical crown. Although the very large, heart-shaped leaves are very late, they are a charming eye-catcher in the garden. But the tree blooms rather little or not at all.

The few white flowers of the Kugeltrompetenbaums show up in the months of June to July, although the flowering may also be from time to time. From this develop bean-shaped, up to 40 centimeters long fruit capsules, which remain over the winter on the tree and open only next spring. However, the trumpet tree is mainly cultivated for its decorative foliage. The late-moving, reminiscent of elephant ears leaves turn yellow in the autumn and are discarded before the first frost.
Tips
In contrast to the trumpet tree, the ball-trumpet tree can not be multiplied by seeds, sinkers or cuttings, but only by refinement.
