Which Dieffenbachia species are there?
The Dieffenbachia is a genus of plants from the plant family of Aronstabgewächse. Wild it grows in the tropical regions of America and parts of South and Southeast Asia. Because of its attractively patterned leaves, it is one of the evergreens on the window sill, especially since it is easy to care for and also thrives in hydroponics very well.
Many types
From Dieffenbachia are known over 50 different species, which are difficult for the layman to distinguish from each other. There are these plants in countless color variations and leaf patterns to buy. Almost always there are hybrids of these varieties:

Dieffenbachia maculata
This is likely to be the most widely used hybrid form, the hallmark of which are the elliptically shaped, relatively broad leaves with tapered ends. From the dark green basic color, the ivory white pattern stands out beautifully.
The cultivar Dieffenbachia maculata "Julius Roehrs" has a peculiarity: The leaves of the young plants are creamy white and get only in old age a rich green colored midrib, green edges and green leaf spots.
Dieffenbachia amoena
This leafy plant has slightly more elongated foliage than D. maculata, which is also elliptical in shape. Along the middle main vein stands out a pretty creamy white marbling.
Dieffenbachia imperialis
The leaves of this breed have a slightly leathery structure and reach imposing dimensions of up to sixty inches long and thirty inches wide. They are tinted dark green and have irregularly distributed, yellowish green spots.
Dieffenbachia bowmannii
Leaf shape and leaf size of this variety are identical to those of D. imperialis. However, leaf spots are bright green.
Dieffenbachia Exotica
This is stunted, this Dieffenbachia forms the highest 25 centimeters long and 10 centimeters wide leaves. The dark green foliage has a strong light green to cream white pattern.
Dieffenbachia X bausei
This Dieffenbachia has slightly smaller leaves. In contrast to Exotica, the leaves are yellow-green in this cultivated form with deep dark green spots and bright spots. The dark green colored leaf edges stand out attractively from the leaf coloring.
Tips
All Dieffenbachien species are slightly toxic. Therefore, wear gloves during care and set the plant out of the reach of children and pets.
