The right time to cut a beech depends on the sprouting and legal requirements of the community. Almost everywhere cutting is prohibited during the bird breeding season.
When may you cut blood beech?
The radical cutting back of a beech is only allowed between September and March. In summer, the tree is used by birds as a breeding ground. That's why cutting is prohibited outside of these times.
A radical pruning is best done before the leaves emerge in the spring. A second shape cut will be made in September or October.
Smaller shaped cuts are possible even in summer. But check beforehand if there are still birds in the tree and postpone cutting if necessary.
Tips
To cut the beech, choose a day when the sun does not shine. Cheap is a bit gray, but not rainy day. Even in frost, you must not cut the blood beech.
