Is the mug-mallow multi-annual?
The mug (or poplar rose) is not only a visual enrichment for any perennial flowerbed, but also a particularly long-lasting cut flower. Since the plants can provide colorful abundance of flowers at one location for years, many hobby gardeners have some uncertainty about the lifespan of this plant.
The mug-mallow is not hardy
The Bechermalve is native to the Mediterranean and is not hardy. Nevertheless, the recurrent flowering in a location without further care in some gardeners suspect that this pretty flower blooms in the ground and therefore often grows up again in the same location. In fact, after flowering, mug mites produce a variety of seeds that eventually eventually fall to the ground, causing new plants to sprout next year. This actually makes it look as if the annual mug mallow is a perennial.
