Which tree is suitable for the living room?
Maple, oak, elm, pine, fir - all these beautiful trees grow in our forests, but can also be cultivated in sufficiently large gardens. However, they are not suitable for the attitude in the living room. There are a number of beautiful room trees that feel comfortable in spacious, light-flooded rooms.
The most beautiful room trees
Only plants that are native to the tropical or subtropical regions of the world are suitable as indoor plants. There they often grow up to many meters tall plants, which of course they do not reach us - the light and heat conditions are different, also limits the planter natural growth. Nevertheless, the trees now presented reach some considerable proportions and therefore need space. Mostly, however, they are well pruned.

The Zimmerlinde (Sparmannia africana) is native to South Africa and belongs to the mallow family. It is up to three meters high, but must be cut back regularly. The woody plant is cultivated mainly because of its up to 20 centimeters large, bright green leaves.

Of course, he can not miss a collection of popular room trees: the Ficus benjamina. There are a variety of varieties with different foliage shapes, sizes and colors on the market, of which in particular the buntlaubigen variants enjoy great popularity. Closely related are the violin box tree (Ficus lyrata) and the rubber tree (Ficus elastica).

This room tree, botanically Pachira aquatica, comes from Central and South America and is closely related to the baobab tree. Striking are his large, hand-like arranged leaves. The plant can grow up to two meters high in carpentry and typically has a braided trunk.
Araucaria
The common pine or Norfolk (Araucaria heterophylla) comes from the small, very remote Norfolk Island east of Australia. There the conifer becomes up to 60 meters high - in the pot it reaches a height of only two meters.
Tips
Although palm trees form a trunk, they do not belong to the trees. A typical feature is missing namely: the thickness growth. The same is true of the yucca palm, which is not really one - even here the trunk circumference does not increase over the years, nevertheless the plant can grow several meters high.
